Trakk 01: Gen X & Elder Millennials: Why We Created Next Trakk for Midlife Comfort
Share
I recently went through a challenging medical journey, that's a story for another day, but each time I would go in for treatment, they would tell me I was young. And being 47 at the time, you get this glow about you hearing you're young, because a lot of times we midlifers aren't considered young OR old. We're just... there. In the middle.
But here's what I realized:
We have a LOT of life experience, even though we're overlooked by the generations above and below us. We went from analog to digital. We weathered Y2K, 9/11, multiple recessions, a global pandemic, and that terrifying period when everyone thought low-rise jeans were a good idea. We've survived dial-up internet and figured out smartphones. We are the bridge generation, and honestly? We're pretty amazing.
And now we're ready for the 'Next Trakk' of our lives.
That's when it hit me: We need our own space. We need a place that gets it. That understands we're not trying to recapture our youth, we're trying to embrace exactly where we are right now, with all the wisdom, battle scars, and hard-earned confidence that comes with it.
Hi, I'm Peg, my husband Andrew and I are the people behind Next Trakk, and if you're reading this, chances are you remember when getting a mixed CD from someone was basically a declaration of love. You probably owned a Discman, knew the agony of a tangled cassette tape, and can still feel that specific excitement of hitting "Next Track" on your favorite album, not knowing what song was coming but trusting it was going to be good.
That's what this stage of life feels like, isn't it?
Next Trakk was born from that mixtape era energy because we're the generation that curated soundtracks for our lives before algorithms did it for us. We know the difference between a good song and the perfect song for the moment. We understand that the best playlists, and the best phases of life, blend nostalgia with discovery.
We're Gen Xers, Elder Millennials, and honestly, anyone who wants to be us.
We remember landlines and dial-up internet, but we also figured out smartphones and survived Zoom meetings. We're sandwich generation warriors, career pivoters, empty nesters, child-free adventurers, young grandparents, and late-blooming everything-ers.
What you'll find here are stories that'll make you laugh, nod, and maybe text your best friend saying "THIS IS SO US." We'll talk about the weird milestones no one prepared us for, the small victories that hit different now, and all the ways we're reinventing what this phase of life can look like.
This isn't about looking backward and staying there, it's about honoring where we've been while getting genuinely excited about what's next. It's about comfort clothes that don't make you look like you've given up. It's about celebrating the person you've become, even if she makes noise when she stands up and has strong opinions about thread count.
